今天來看蛀蟲米的頻道
採訪佛學和心理學博士李堅翔

有時候我們看一個人
覺得溫暖而有力量
那不是源於外在的知識
或是記得幾句金句

而是思緒經過沉澱和淬鍊後
在內在生成了智慧
於是說出來的話
總是有幾分深度和道理
(咦?這難道是在說我自己嗎?)

李老師在訪談中談到了許多題目
我分享其中一段引起我注意的部分
他認為在諮商過程中
最難處理的第一名是恐懼
恐懼會變成焦慮、緊張、憤怒
引發不安全的感覺

恐懼還會黏附著孤獨感
覺得沒人明白與理解
使得我們生活很煩擾

恐懼還會讓人時時想要確認
自己贏過別人
又或是想要透過過度的占有和控制
來滿足自己的安全感
深怕自己失去或被傷害

但其實讓我們恐懼的根源
可能早就已經過去了
我們只是太害怕了
所以看不到

而透過正念練習
把注意力放在當下
放在穩定的呼吸上
可以讓人感受到自己是安全的
在這個當下沒有什麼會來傷害我們
我們可以好好地呼吸
回到當下的世界

在學習心理學時
我們總習慣把各種情緒命名
然後一個一個分開來看
沒想到恐懼是這麼根源的東西
帶出後面一連串的情緒和反應

平常我們可能只感受到很表層的問題
覺得自己愛比較
或是不懂得放鬆
但也許核心的問題
都來自於恐懼

那麼 我們要如何面對恐懼呢
老實說我不認為有一種解法
是我可以直接寫出來
然後大家從此過著幸福快樂的日子
不過詢問AI後
還是找到了幾個可能的方向

除了剛剛李老師說的正念練習
透過微小的進步累積自信
或是尋求社交網路或專業人士的支持
自我察覺出恐懼的源頭等等
都是可能可以努力的方向

Viewpoint Episode 20. Fear

Today, I’m going to discuss fear. This topic is inspired by a YouTube channel called ‘Bug Mi,’ which featured an interview with psychologist Dr. Lee.

Sometimes, we meet people who radiate warmth and energy. This doesn’t come from external knowledge or a few good quotes; it comes from their inner world, where deep, regular reflection makes their words resonate with depth and wisdom. (This reminds me of myself.)

Dr. Lee covered many topics in the interview, but I’ll focus on one that particularly interested me. He believes that in psychological counseling, the most challenging issue to address is fear. Fear can trigger anxiety, nervousness, or anger, making us feel unsafe. Moreover, it often brings loneliness, making us feel that nobody understands or relates to us. This can deeply affect our lives. Fear also drives us to constantly check—whether we are better than others or if we are in control—just to feel safe.

We are so afraid of losing and getting hurt, but the reasons behind our fear may have long since passed. We are simply too afraid to face reality. By focusing on the present and concentrating on our breathing, we can find a sense of safety. Nothing is going to hurt us right now. We can breathe peacefully and return to the present world.

When I was studying psychology, I tried to identify and label every single emotion. But I didn’t realize that fear could be the root of so many other emotions and reactions.

In daily life, the problems or feelings we experience may just be surface-level. For example, we might feel competitive or struggle to relax, but the core issue often stems from fear.

So, how can we confront fear? To be honest, I don’t think there’s a single practical suggestion that will make us happy forever. However, there are some recommendations from AI. Besides practicing mindfulness, as I mentioned earlier, we can build confidence through small successes, seek support from family, friends, or professionals, and increase our awareness to identify what triggers our fear.
